The manufacturing phase of Seabras-1 is now complete. The first of two Alcatel installation vessels, the ‘Ile de Sein’, is now in NY with over 8,200km of cable, 125 + repeaters and 5 branching units on board. This represents the largest amount of cable to ever be installed by an Alcatel Submarine Networks vessel.

The marine installation phase of Seabras-1 from NY to Sao Paulo is now underway. Throughout Spring 2017 the cable will be laid with the marine elements of the project completing in early May.

In conjunction, timing wise, the cable station for Seabras-1 in Praia Grande, Brazil is now fully constructed.  The terminal equipment installed in both the US and Brazil cable stations is ready for commissioning to commence in the coming weeks. With all terrestrial elements of Seabras-1 being completed during the first quarter of 2017, system commissioning and final testing of the complete Seabras-1 network will actively begin in May and June.

This is a truly exciting time for Seaborn Networks as the detailed planning and attention to every detail pays dividends and we hold fast to the originally proposed ready-for-service date in June 2017.
